To be honest, the travel part on my website was the most difficult one to start, so it took for a while to post. It was not because I found it hard to write about it, it was because I could not choose where to start! For sure, I was dying to write about our last family trip to breathtaking Hamilton Island, but the problem was I had many things to write about it. So I have decided to divide my post into 3 parts rather than squeezing all of them in around 900 words. Well, let’s start!
There is no doubt that Australia has many amazing natural beauties and Hamilton Island is one of these places which are in many people’s bucket list. Visiting this island also was one of my dreams for 6 years, but we could not find any opportunity to organize a trip there until last year. My family lives in Turkey, and there is no need to mention how we miss each other! When my mother decided to celebrate her birthday in Melbourne with us, my lovely husband and I had started to think how to organize a surprise party for her. Last year, during her birthday they were in Melbourne but this year we wanted to do something special and my hubby came up with a brilliant idea! “Let’s organize a secret trip to Hamilton Island!” The only thing our family would know was to bring their swimsuits and towels about this holiday! So flight was booked, an excellent accommodation was found (I will talk about the place in the second part) and tours were chosen. In February, after 10 days, my family had arrived, we were ready to start our dream vacation (Our family learnt the place where we were about to go for the first time at the airport.) I still remember my feelings and heart beats when we were on our way to the airport.
Here you are the magical island. Watching it from the plane was just beyond words!!!
If I describe the island in one sentence, I think it would be “every color of this place is just a festival for eyes.”
The color of aqua, the shades of blue, the tones of green… But the most important thing, how they protect all these beauties in a such popular place, just amazed us every single day.
No Plastic Bag
The other thing which has fascinated me is that many shops do not use plastic bags and, others warn their customers to use these beautiful bags! Protecting our mother nature is not difficult as it sounds. Simple things can change the world. What a fantastic idea, right?
Catseye Beach
Catseye Beach is a “MUST VISIT” in the island. It is a perfect spot for relaxing, swimming, and enjoying a whole range of fun watersports. Marine stingers may be present in the waters of tropical Queensland year round, with the higher risk season during October – May. During this period, jellyfish are prevalent in the waters around the mainland, islands and have occasionally been found out on the reef so make sure you have stinger suit! We swam several times without our suits (we were just lucky) but the last day we heard that 7 people were stung by jellyfish! My point is that wearing stinger suits is really crucial! Put yours on too so you and your family can enjoy the beautiful water and snorkeling spots. If you do that, your chances of getting stung is tiny and you don’t have to worry about it.
Every part of Hamilton Island is a treasure and excellent place to make memories with your loved ones!
